After 17 years of surfing I can definitely say that surfing changed my life in such a positive way.
In my case it has never been about high performance or catching a lot of waves. I’m just in love with surfing lifestyle and what it bring to my life.
First of all I started to get in touch with my body. I was longing to surf when I was living in Reunion Island in 2000. Surfing became the perfect way to keep myself fit and healthy while having fun at the same time. That seems to me a bit difficult to do during my old city life style in Barcelona. After a while surfing I started noticing that my body was getting stiffer. More muscle, less flexibility. It was at this point when Yoga come into my life. God bless my girlfriend Maite that started sharing her practice with me and she gave me a few books to read. It was the start of a new way of living!
Second I got the travelers virus. I started traveling to surf destinations and since then I have never stopped: Australia, Indonesia, Ecuador, Madagascar, Morocco, Mexico….
This created in me the need of finding a way of sustain my travels. At some point I was stopping my travels to do some random seasonal jobs, but I started having the craving to do my “own thing”, to do something where I could really put my heart into it and grow while doing it. Some thing that I really love and makes me feel that I’m participating in the construction of a better world.
So thirdly, I met Thai Yoga Massage. My first contact with Thai Massage was in Bali during my 3 month course to become a Spa Therapist. After doing my Yoga Teacher Training in 2008 in India I went to Thailand to get deeper into Thai Massage in Chiang Mai.
My Thai Massage teachers offered me the opportunity and space to teach yoga during the massage courses, so I found myself staying for several courses in this school located in a Lahu Hill tribe Village in northern Thailand. So I was growing as a Yoga teacher at the same time that I was learning and practising heaps of Thai Yoga Massage.
So the random jobs ended and I started to sustain my life while traveling!
The dream came true! Today I run my own Thai Yoga Massage courses or I help my fellow teachers with their courses, I give therapy and have also been teaching Yoga in different countries, mostly in Surf Camps.
The conclusion of this is just to give you an essential tip in life:
Follow your hearts desire, do the things you really love to do and feed your happiness. The rest will follow, the universe will make things happen for you as soon you follow your Dharma!! Believe in magic, open your eyes, miracles are happening every day. Life is a Gift that we all deserve to explore in a positive way. Trust in yourself, love yourself and have fun!!
